Delivering first rate IT and support across schools in the North East means here at OmniCom, we’re serious about offering our customers a wide portfolio of IT solutions to suit their specific and personal needs; one reason for introducing our leasing scheme.

Leasing currently plays a large part of our educational business, allowing any school the flexibility of purchasing equipment and services as well as spreading the cost over the term of the lease – typically 3 years.

Also, most schools don’t appreciate the flexibility of leasing: –

  • You can defer the start of lease payments by up to 3 months
  • You can combine an existing lease with new equipment at the same lease cost
  • You can pay part cash and lease the remaining balance

However, big changes have been made to our scheme over the last 12 months, ensuring our customers are kept up to date with the latest technology and devices. Our schools are now only able to sign up for an operating lease (i.e. a fixed period of time where the equipment is then returned at the end of the term), rather than a finance lease (where the equipment was retained by the school at the end of the term). This has means that all leases are now a maximum of 3 years, rather than 5 years which we were previously able to offer.

Although this means all equipment needs to be returned to the leasing company at the end of 3 years, it does mean that the equipment will constantly be kept up to date and refreshed with new models.

These changes along with the lowest lease rates ever, mean that for the equipment bought, you’ll only pay approximately 85% to 90% of the purchase price over the 3 years, as the remainder is a residual value that the lease company places on the equipment.

For example, if you choose to buy equipment worth £10,000, it will cost you £3,145 per annum (Annual payments are the cheapest), meaning you’ll pay a total of £9,435 over the term.

In addition OmniCom also performs a number of free services for our education customers: –

  • If you have equipment to return to a lease company we will collect it,  format the hard drives and return it on your behalf
  • If you have old equipment being replaced we will arrange for secure disposal with certified data destruction

Whilst it’s true to say most things can be leased, it is strongly recommend that anything that is part of the school’s infrastructure (e.g. networking, wired or wireless) or equipment that will last substantially longer than 3 years (e.g. servers) be purchased outright. Of equal importance, equipment should be ‘sized’ for the lease term, i.e. don’t lease powerful high end equipment that will still have plenty of life left at the end of 3 years, and instead purchase mid-range that will perform adequately over 3 years.
